Welcome to Music Monday!

It’s a good thing I’ve banked a few of these. I spent this weekend at a Hawaii People’s Fund retreat at the beautiful Camp Paleua. The Board and Grantmaking Committees met to discuss strategically about the organization’s future. And by the time I got home Sunday afternoon I was exhausted. I had no energy to record a video for today.

As a closet romantic, there are a few songs by Train that appeal to me. “Hopeless” is one of them. I have a handful of songs by them, but admit to not liking them enough to invest in an entire album.

Hopefully you’ll enjoy this one and not think less of me for it.

With one more in the bank, I need to start recording again. I also started class again today, so we’ll see when I manage to get to it.

As promised, I’m back with another Music Monday lip sync video.

Harvey Danger is an alternative rock band I know from the late 90’s. Maybe you remember them, maybe you don’t. Or maybe you’re too young to know them at all (sad). The song, Flagpole Sitta is their one and only hit.

I’ve always liked this song, with its fun hook and amusing lyrics. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it too. Or at least enjoy watching me lip sync it.

Happy Monday!

Music Monday returns with a cover of “Selfless, Cold, and Composed,” by Ben Folds Five.

It’s taken me a while, but I’ve started to reestablish a working routine which I hope will continue to include these videos.

And it’s not a coincidence that my online graduate program at George Washington University began today. I believe that if I can keep myself motivated with multiple online projects, I’ll be more likely to stay engaged, productive. When I’m not working, not motivated, not only am I less productive (obviously), but I also more easily fall prey to depressive moods, which makes it even harder for me to work.

Anyway, Ben Folds Five’s second album, Whatever and Ever Amen was once a favorite of mine. Released in 1997, I vivid memories of driving around listening to the album over and over. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this song of theirs, as lip-synced by me.

music monday is back this week with one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite artists: tiny dancer by elton john.

i tried a new location in my apartment to record in an effort to try and keep the setting a bit fresh. i’m not sure it worked out.

this is also the first video, i think, in which there was no discernible gap between the video and audio (at least youtube couldn’t detect any), which is good.

i’m hoping to try out different scenes in the coming weeks. any suggestions? or suggestions for songs?
