so, i officially completed my law school application today and sent it off.
as i created a profile on the LSAC site, i’ve been getting a scattering of information pamphlets and emails from various law schools on the mainland, which i find somewhat amusing. not only had i not contacted any of these schools, but i find it interesting that they solicit for applications.
i wonder if schools want a lot of applicants as a small source of income; how much do they make on application fees? or does a high number of applicants (regardless of how many they actually accept) improve some figure in some law school ranking system somewhere?
i have ignored these solicitations really for only one reason: they’re all from mainland schools. while i have little confidence that i’ll be accepted at my school of choice, i have no desire to return to the mainland, even if only for a few years just to complete school. i like it here and intend to remain, law school or not.
this mentality, though, might beg the question, ‘how badly do i really want to attend law school?’ admissions at my school of choice are quite competitive and while my lsat scores and college gpa aren’t great, i’m confident that if i really wanted to go, i could find a school, somewhere, to accept me. i guess this question will be better answered once i’ve received a letter or admission or rejection.
still, despite the waiting that i must now endure, i’m glad to have the application finished and completed. for better or worse, its out of my hands now.
i’m keeping my fingers crossed. you do the same.
good josh!! i am proud of you for doing it and wish you the best of luck!!
